Friday 19th November is Children in Need Day; every year people up and down the country get up to all sorts to raise money to support children’s charities. From bake sales to danceathons and dress up days to cycle rides the country goes all out to do their bit.
Children in Need has been running in its current format since 1980, when the show raised a staggering £1,000,000.00. Every year it has gone from strength to strength and last year it raised £57,119,000.00, that is an eye watering amount of money.
At Marham House we are no different from the rest of the country, we love to help, and we love a challenge. There is nothing we like more than a bit of fundraising and this year we are doing our bit by walking. Inspired by Captain Sir Tom we are walking laps of our garden. We have spent the week going round and round and round, so far, we have completed 55 laps and anyone familiar with the size of our garden will know that this is quite an achievement.
It means a lot to us to be able to help, we have time on our hands here and we like to put it to good use. Just knowing that we can make a difference to the lives of others is so satisfying especially at a time of life where we find ourselves so reliant on others.
We shall be continuing our challenge over the weekend; we are intending to walk at least 100 laps and raise as much money as possible.
