Bonjour tous le monde, Today, our taste buds have been transported across the channel to France and it was très bon.
It is amazing that something as simple as a trolley can cause such excitement, but its arrival is something that we all look forward to.
The trolley was the brainchild of Jackie, the lifestyle lead. Over the course of the last year many of our usual activities have had to take a back seat and the team have had to be very creative in their attempts to keep us entertained. Social distancing meant that we could no longer gather in large groups and activities were more one to one. Thankfully things are slowly getting back to normal, and we are beginning to come together again however there are a few of the socially distanced activities that we are holding onto, and the trolley is one of them.
Every couple of weeks the trolley arrives, and we have no idea what it will be carrying until it enters the room. This week it was laden with French faire. Croissants, Pain au chocolate, crepes, Brie and wine. It was quite a sight to behold. I have travelled to France often over the course of my life and it was just so lovely to be able to chat to others about our French adventures, swapping anecdotes whilst sipping a crisp Sancerre.
We have no idea as to the contents of the next trolley although there is talk of a Spanish fiesta. I can almost taste the Sangria just thinking about it.
Lifestyle lead Jackie told us “Residents have been very positive about our treat trolleys. It is testament to the team’s creativity that an activity born out of necessity during lockdown has proved to be so popular. We envisaged this as a temporary measure but it’s here to stay, there would be uproar if we took it away now. This activity is particularly nice for those residents who prefer not to join group activities and it provides the lifestyle team with opportunities to visit and chat with every single resident.
We have more treats in store this weekend, but we aren’t telling what they are, we’ll keep that to ourselves for now.”
