In the month of December in the year twenty one

With advent upon them each one having fun

A care home named Marham was in for a shock

They were in line for a visit, their worlds it would rock.

The month had gone by so jolly but fast

Even though they had tried to make each moment last

They’d put up the streamers and trimmed the whole tree

They stared at the gifts wondering “what would they be?”

They’d stirred Christmas puddings and baked Christmas cake

They crafted decorations and no rest did they take

They’d opened the sherry, had one, then one more

All unaware of what lay in store

Meanwhile on a mountain near Bury St E

The Grinch looked around to see what was for tea

He searched in the larder, he searched on the floor

With a grimace then laughter he opened the door

The care home named Marham looked cosy and warm

A place where the chef might cook up a storm

He climbed through the window to find him a treat

A glass of good sherry and something to eat

The people of Marham stood agape and aghast

As the Grinch rushed right past them so slick and so fast

He tossed all the sweets as right by did he prance

He put on a record to have him a dance

He visited bedrooms, he laid on the beds

He jumped on the sofa, he drank all the meds

And when he had finished, upstairs he did creep

To the cinema room where he fell fast asleep

The residents giggled, what a sight they had seen

A Santa sat snoring, a Santa that’s green

They tucked him in snuggly and turned off the light

And they backed away gently and wished him goodnight.
