We love animals; of all the visitors we get to Marham House, the animals are our favourite. From exotic pets such as lizards and giant snails to cuddly bunnies and house-trained ponies, they make fabulous guests, and we welcome them in with open arms.
There is something very therapeutic about spending time with animals, curled up on the sofa with a purring cat or snuggled in an armchair with a good book, dog snoring at your feet. They just bring calm, the perfect house guest who will provide companionship without asking for anything in return.
This week we received an incredibly special visit from Charlie, Charlie is a PAT dog. PAT stands for pets as therapy and Charlie has been specially trained to offer therapeutic visits. Pet owners register with the charity who in turn put them in touch with anyone who needs a furry friend in their life.
Charlie will be visiting us weekly, and we will all have the chance to get to know him, he will become part of our Marham House family, and we cannot wait.
“Pets As Therapy (PAT) is a national charity that enhances the health and wellbeing of thousands of people in communities across the UK. We strive to ensure that everyone, no matter their circumstances, has access to the companionship of an animal.
Our volunteers and their friendly pets visit establishments such as care homes, hospitals, hospices, schools, and prisons, and bring smiles to many faces. People of all ages get the chance to chat to someone — and stroke and cuddle a dog or cat.”
