What is the best thing about living at Marham House? That’s a tough question to answer. There are so many things that make it a wonderful place to live and work. For a start it’s beautiful, very modern, and luxurious, more like a hotel than a care home. There is a lot going on, activities, trips out, community events, it would be impossible to get bored. The carers are so thoughtful, they have become like an extended family, the food is good, nutritious, and delicious, but the best thing about the whole experience is the friendships.
You don’t expect to be making new friends at this age, most of our friends have been in our lives for decades and we are very grateful for them and the joy that they continue to bring us.
The friends that we have made here are people that we might never have met, we come from different walks of life, some of us grew up in the same neighbourhoods, our lives took us on quite different paths but somehow, they brought us all here.
We spend hours sharing our stories, swapping photographs, and clinking glasses, it’s wonderful. We all have different stories, but we also have a wealth of shared experiences. We remember another world, a world that was far removed from this one, and it is wonderful to while away our afternoons reminiscing.
Fate put us all here together at the same time and I am incredibly happy about that, the material things around us are lovely but it is the relationships that we forge that shape our experiences and make our lives just that little bit better.
